Section 4: Beccles Road - Lowestoft Road

South of Beccles Road the road continues on an embankment, again following the profile of the old railway. The rail line crossed Shrublands Way on a single span bridge and then went into a cutting before going under further bridges at Church Road, Middleton Road and Lowestoft Road. Just south of this last road it arrived at Gorleston-on-Sea station. To allow for the new road, Shrublands Way was diverted to the south to remove the need for a bridge and the original rail bridges were replaced in sections to enable the wider dual-carriageway to pass underneath. What was a fairly peaceful walkers' route through the town is now a busy thoroughfare.
